From My Bookshelf To Yours ...
So, in the spirit of being totally candid, I'll admit that for about five years I didn't read a single book for pleasure. I lost my love of imagination and preferred to see what was right in front of me on the big screen. But, having recently reclaimed my passion for reading, I can tell you that it is an experience like no other and one where human emotion and thoughts can be shared and understood in a totally creative way. For me, holding a book is escapism in its best form. Being transported to the world within the pages is the holiday you never knew you needed and the safe space to imagine and create. Stories let us build a different world, one where the problems of our own do not exist- some would say that this can be seen as negative, why should we look elsewhere when there are plenty of issues to fix right in front of us? True, but real strength comes from being able to imagine a better world, one where conflict or prejudice do not exist, or one where we eventually learn from the errors of the past. Yes, books hold knowledge and tales, but more importantly, dreams, hopes, fears and emotions able to transform your very state of mind. So find time to pick up a book, read and escape, read and dream, read and love, because if we all think this way, then who knows, some day it may come true.
